Homes for Cornwall is a collective of business and community leaders committed to reversing the lack of affordable housing in Cornwall. This driven group was planning an event at Cornwall’s largest theatre, Hall for Cornwall, to raise awareness of the role everyone has to play in helping solve the housing crisis.
'Hope for Cornwall' was set to be an extravaganza of an evening, bringing together some of the Duchy’s most talented creative performers including Fisherman’s Friends, Catrina Davies, Rhys Wynne-Jones and Will Keating. All hosted by the engaging and whip-smart Gail Muller.
But to make it a success, they needed to get people through the door and bums on seats.
Event PR and marketing
That’s where I came in. I supported the team with event PR and marketing, as well as on-the-day event support. After helping design and copy edit the event marketing collateral - including the invitation, flyer, poster and social media posts, I focused my efforts on a pre-event media relations push. Press release drafted, and key media contacts identified, I developed a pitching strategy and set to work.
We secured 18 coverage placements, including a lead story on ITV West Country news, Cornwall Live, Greatest Hits Radio, local print syndication (including a front page and double page spread in the West Briton), BBC Radio Cornwall and Business Cornwall.

Making a difference
Most importantly, the publicity worked. On the night, more than 800 people attended, to experience the impressive line up of Cornish talent and engage with the important discussions about housing in Cornwall.

I was on hand to help our fantastic event organiser Helen, manage press enquiries and coordinate videography and photography with the expert team at Bull & Wolf.

Hope for Cornwall wasn’t simply an event, it was a call to action. Since the event, Homes for Cornwall has been inundated with pledges from individuals and organisations offering time, expertise, land, and financial support. It was inspiring and moving to be part of such a meaningful event that galvanised the community around this important issue.
"Bryony secured us more press and outreach than we could have possibly imagined. We could not recommend her and her approach and energy more highly. Our success has been, in no small part, owed to Bryony Partridge" - Sam Galsworthy, Homes for Cornwall
"Bryony's professionalism and excellent communication skills combined with her ability to work magic within tight deadlines mean we very much want to work with her again in the future." - Emma Stratton, Homes for Cornwall
